      What Is Retrospectives Tile?

Retrospectives pairs a 3x6 glossy ceramic wall tile in three colors (Enchanted Mist, Notting Hill, Royal Garden) with an 8x8 matte porcelain floor tile in three patterns (Covent Gardens, Notting Hill, Royal Blues), plus a matching 1x6 trim. The wall tile has a soft, weathered glaze with heavy color movement, while the floor patterns lean into bold, encaustic-inspired motifs, from a floral medallion to a graphic diamond stripe. The two halves of the collection are meant to be paired, a quiet wall with a loud floor, but each works on its own too.

      Retrospectives Wall and Floor Tile

Wall tile: The 3x6 is glossy ceramic with heavy (V3) shade variation, built for walls only, not floors. It's rated for fireplace surrounds but not for shower pans, pool linings, or frost, so keep it to dry or lightly splashed interior walls.

Floor tile: The 8x8 is a separate matte porcelain product with a PEI 4 wear rating and DCOF of 0.42 or higher, so it holds up to foot traffic and gives reasonable grip. It's rated for floors, walls, shower pans, fireplace surrounds, and frost, which means it can handle a covered outdoor application, but it is not rated for pool linings.

Trim: A 1x6 jolly trim matches each of the three wall colors, finishing outside corners and backsplash tops in the same glossy glaze.

      Retrospectives Tile by Room

Kitchen backsplash: Run the wall tile behind open shelving in a kitchen, where the weathered glaze reads as a collected, lived-in detail rather than a flat backdrop.

Laundry room or small bathroom: Pair the floor pattern with the coordinating solid wall color, Notting Hill floor with Notting Hill wall, for instance, so the two formats read as one designed space in a bathroom or laundry room.

Accent space: A closet, mudroom, or small activity room is a low-risk place to commit to the boldest floor pattern, Royal Blues or Covent Gardens, since the space is small enough that the pattern doesn't overwhelm.

      How to Choose Retrospectives Tile

Don't put the wall tile on a floor. The 3x6 is ceramic and rated for walls only. The 8x8 porcelain is the floor-rated format.

Pair a bold floor with a quiet wall, or vice versa. The collection is designed around contrast, a patterned floor with a solid wall, or a patterned subway wall as the louder element if you'd rather keep the floor plain.

Keep this collection away from pools. Neither the wall nor floor tile carries a pool lining rating, even though the floor tile is frost resistant enough for a covered patio.

Order a sample of both the wall color and floor pattern you're pairing. The wall glaze has heavy shade movement and the floor patterns are busy, so see them together in your own light before committing to a full room.
