      What Is Marrakesh Tile?

Marrakesh is a zellige-style ceramic wall tile in six colors, from Sahara White and Tantan Beige to Berber Black and Meknes Marine. Each tile is double-fired, which gives it natural variation in tone and surface from piece to piece, the same handcrafted quality that real Moroccan zellige is known for, in a ceramic that's easier to source and install at scale.

This is a zellige-style collection, not authentic hand-cut Moroccan zellige. If you want true hand-cut tile, or a wider range of zellige-look options in other shapes and price points, browse zellige tiles instead. Marrakesh stands out within that broader look for one specific reason: it's one of the few collections where every color comes with a matching bullnose trim.

      Marrakesh Wall Tile and Trim

Subway tile: The 2.5x8 format runs narrower than a standard 3x6 subway, so the brick pattern reads finer and more vertical on a wall. Set it in a classic offset within the wider subway tile range, and expect the semi-gloss glaze to pool slightly deeper in some pieces than others, which is the double-fired variation showing through.

Square tile: The 4x4 format gives you a tighter, more graphic grid than the subway. Lay it straight for a clean, modern look or stack it for something closer to traditional zellige patterning. Both formats share all six colors, so you can mix shapes within one wall if you want subway on one section and square on another.

Trim: Each of the six colors has a matching 1x8 bullnose, glazed to the same run as the field tile. That lets you finish an outside corner, a niche, or the top of a backsplash without the color or sheen breaking at the edge, which is easy to overlook until you're standing in front of a wall with mismatched trim.

      Marrakesh Tile by Room

Kitchen backsplash: Sahara White or Tantan Beige keeps a backsplash quiet behind colorful cabinetry. Berber Black or Meknes Marine turns the backsplash itself into the focal point against plain white cabinets.

Bar or accent wall: Medina Green and Meknes Marine both read well at bar height, where the semi-gloss glaze catches overhead light. Use the bullnose to cap the top edge instead of leaving a cut tile edge exposed.

Fireplace surround: Sidi Salt's pale, warm gray works as a neutral surround that doesn't compete with the rest of a living room, and the matching bullnose wraps the corners cleanly where the surround meets drywall.

      How to Choose Marrakesh Tile

Pick the format by how busy you want the wall to read. The 2.5x8 subway reads as a classic brick pattern. The 4x4 square reads more like traditional zellige patterning, especially if you stack it instead of running a straight grid.

Use the matching bullnose, don't skip it. Because the trim is glazed in the same run as the field tile, it's the detail that makes an installation look finished rather than just cut and capped with whatever trim was on hand.

Expect color and surface variation from the double-firing. This isn't a defect, it's what gives Marrakesh its handcrafted look. Order from one run and dry-lay several boxes before setting so the variation spreads evenly instead of clustering in one corner.

Choose a neutral for resale value and a saturated color for a personal statement. Sahara White, Tantan Beige, and Sidi Salt read as safer long-term choices. Berber Black, Medina Green, and Meknes Marine are the colors people choose when they want the wall to be the reason they remodeled.

Order a sample before committing to a full wall. The semi-gloss glaze and the natural variation both look different in person than on screen, especially in the darker colors.
